dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil is useful to the digestive, nervous and respiratory systems.  It also benefits your muscles, bones and skin. No wonder we all love our Peppermint! Peppermint essential oil is one of dōTERRA’s Therapeutic Wellness products that is listed with the Australian Government Department of Health Therapeutic Goods Administration as a Medicine Product.

The peppermint plant is a versatile perennial herb that has been cherished since ancient times. The plant’s first recorded appearance dates back to 1000 BC when dried peppermint leaves were found entombed in ancient Egyptian pyramids. Throughout time, this herb has been valued as a multi-purpose plant and an essential oil whose components are now used by cosmetic, culinary, and health industries around the world. Peppermint oil is also well known for its ability to help alleviate occasional stomach upset and promote healthy respiratory function when used internally. With so many facets and uses, Peppermint essential oil continues to be one of doTERRA’s best-selling and highly-favoured essential oils.

Peppermint was one of the first essential oils I ever tried.  I was experiencing a lot of head and neck tension and discomfort.  I started using the Peppermint often and it helped ease my head and neck discomfort.  That experience helped me understand the power of Peppermint! Peppermint is still an oil I use OFTEN. Peppermint is fantastic for head and neck tension!  Re-apply as needed every 15-20 minutes.

One bottle of essential oil has a wide variety of uses.  Did you know there are 40-50 different ways to use a single bottle of essential oil?  I have learned that essential oils are multi-purpose.  And effective!  Which is why they are so handy to have around my home.

  1. dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil blends well with dōTERRA Lavender oil for a soothing massage blend.
  2. Inhale for a non-stimulant, invigorating pick-me-up on long drives.
  3. Add to shampoo or conditioner for a stimulating hair massage.
  4. Repels bugs naturally. Spritz around windows and doors.
  5. Apply topically to relieve feelings of tension.

One useful thing about peppermint oil is that it can help you stay alert.  We use peppermint oil on long trips to help us stay alert at the wheel.  Simply inhale directly from the bottle,  or put a few drops on a cotton ball and place near the driver.  You can even use an essential oil diffuser that is designed for the car. Diffuse when feeling fatigued or low on energy. Combine with Spearmint, Lemon, Lime, or Rosemary essential oils.

Peppermint also supports the respiratory system. Inhaling Peppermint helps promote feelings of clear airways and easy breathing. When taken internally, Peppermint may help ease nausea and motion sickness.
